Visioneering

Vision SettingVision CastingFuture Casting

If you have NOT set a vision for yourself and your organization then you’re NOT on the road to success.

Visioneering is a process that is much more than a few chosen words put together and calling it a vision. Creating and implementing a vision for your future is hard work – but has a greater ROI than nearly anything else you might do.
Where there is no vision, the people perish:
but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
  • Everybody ends up somewhere in life. A few people end up somewhere on purpose. Those are the ones with vision. ~ Andy Stanley

  • Without a vision, your willingness to allow God to prepare you for the next phase of your life would be diminished. ~ R.A. Weigel

  • A God-given vision keeps us from decay and disorder. It energizes everything we do.  And turning that vision into reality is one way we love God with all our strength. ~ Mark Batterson

  • Most of us live our lives by accident—we live as it happens.  Fulfillment comes when we live our lives on purpose. ~ Simon Sinek

  • A great vision for the future is framed by both dissatisfaction and conviction.  It’s not about something that could be done but about something that should be done. ~ R.A. Weigel

  • When you provide a concrete, explicit vision for your team, you enable them to move faster in the right direction, full of purpose and confidence. ~ Michael Hyatt

  • Visionary companies are so clear about what they stand for and what they’re trying to achieve that they simply don’t have room for those unwilling or unable to fit their exacting standards. ~ Jim Collins

  • A leader without a vision is like putting your team in bumper cars and expecting to get somewhere. ~ R.A. Weigel

There are several important parts to setting your vision for the future.

  • Each person who is tapped to help set a corporate vision – must first have a personal vision or they really don’t get it.
  • Leaders must have a personal vision and an idea for a corporate vision that they are willing to modify or adjust when the team comes together.
  • There is a sequence for vision setting that must be followed precisely.
  • Once your vision is established, then a strategic plan needs to be put in place with details of how to bring that vision into reality.
  • An effective strategic plan is a plan that lives and breathes with the people who are tasked to carry it out.
If an airline pilot landed his plane successfully only 60% of the time – you would be concerned. If a surgeon kept the patient living only 60% of the time – you would be appalled. If the jails only kept killers in prison 60% of the time and let them go 40% of the time – you would be unsafe. If driving rules only were in effect for 60% of the people while 40% did whatever they wanted – there would be chaos.

I’ve got a large and growing list of things for Visioneering. I’m not sure where to put that. For example:

  • Your initial vision will always exceed your competency otherwise it’s not a vision.
  • Without a vision, your willingness to allow God to prepare you for the next phase of your life would be diminished.
  • Every vision needs to be solving a problem that others are experiencing – not just you.
  • Every vision begins with a good idea or determination about change.
  • Visioning is a process — not an event.

And more….
